Shalawn Backstrom is a native of Detroit and has lived in Columbia, South Carolina, for nearly 20 years. She is married, has one son, and is currently an empty nester. Shalawn serves as a Nurse Manager at a local government hospital and is passionate about leadership, community service, and networking. In her free time, she enjoys brunch and traveling.
Shalawn was introduced to golf through her husband and son but adopted the sport as a serious hobby in 2025. Golf has become an enjoyable and effective stress reliever for her, and she especially loves introducing new women to the game.
She is excited to serve as the Managing Director for the Columbia, South Carolina Chapter of Queens on the Greens and looks forward to engaging with the community and meeting new people.
